Seminars and Workshops

The Division of Biology & Biomedical Sciences (DBBS) and the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) provide weekly career and professional development opportunities for students and postdocs. Each fall, the Faculty Career Search Series demystifies the academic hiring process and we hold a seminar to help graduate students prepare to search for postdoctoral positions. Grant writing workshops can help you write successful fellowship applications and navigate funding sources from the NSF as well the NIH and private foundations. A variety of Professional development seminars on soft skills, communication skills, Individual Development Plans (IDPs), and professionalism topics will give you the skills needed for career success in any field. Career talks by alumni and other Ph.D. professionals explore the many academic and non-academic careers available to Ph.D.s in the biomedical sciences. If you have questions, please contact Dr. Jessica Hutchins, DBBS Specialist Research Education, jhutchins@wustl.edu.
