The Department of Cell Biology and Physiology comprises an interactive group of faculty with broad research interests including cell motility, cell signaling, cell cycle regulation, DNA repair, extracellular matrix, prions, membrane and organelle trafficking, structure and function of ion channels, transporters and pumps as well as molecular and cellular imaging. Our faculty conduct state-of-the-art basic and preclinical studies, and many are engaged in active collaborations with clinical colleagues to translate their findings.

The ICCE Institute (Integrating Communication within the Cancer Environment) is dedicated to determining how interactions between tumor cells and their cellular, biochemical, and structural environment facilitates tumor progression and metastasis. The Institute is primarily a discovery-based cancer research group that has been structured to be able to rapidly translate breakthroughs into patient care through molecular and cellular cancer biology, molecular imaging, and functional genomics.
